14 მაისს (ძვ. სტ. 1 მაისს) ქრისტეს ეკლესია აღნიშნავს თამარობას - იხსენიებს წმინდა კეთილმსახურ მეფე თამარს

თამარ მეფე, წმინდა მეფე თამარი, თამარ დედოფალი, tamar mefe, king Tamar, tamar dedofali, wminda tamari, tamaroba, თამარობა, წმინდათა ცხოვრება, თვენი, მაისი, ქველი, qwelly, may

      XII საუკუნის მიწურულს, საქართველოს სამეფო ტახტზე ადის 12 წლის თამარი, გიორგი III-ს ასული. იგი მამასთან ერთად, 1178-1184 წლებში მმართავს ქვეყანას, 84 წლიდან კი, როდესაც გიორგი III გარდაიცვლება, მარტო იტვირთავს ქვეყნის მეფის უღელის ზიდვას.

      ღმრთისმოშიშებით და უფლისთვის სათნო მოღვაწეობით, დედა-დედოფალი თამარი შეძლებს ქვეყნის ისტორიაში, იქამდე და მის შემდეგ, საუკეთესო მმართველობას, ოქროს ხანის პერიოდი იყო წმინდა თამარის მეფობა.

      შემონახულია მისი სიტყვა სასულიერო პირების მიმართ:

"ჰოი, წმიდანო მამანო, თქუენ ღმრთისა მიერ განჩინებული ხართ მოძღვრად ჩვენდა და მმართებლად წმიდასა ეკლესიასა და თანაგაც მისა სიტყვის მიცემა სულთათვის ჩვენთა. გამოიძიეთ ყოველი კეთილად და დაამტკიცეთ მართალი, ხოლო განხადეთ გულარძნილი. იწყეთ ჩემ ზედა, რამეთუ შარავანდი ესე მეფობისა არს და არა ღმრთის მბრძოლობისა. ნუ თუალახუამთ მთავართა სიმდიდრისათვის, ნუცა გლახაკთა უდებ-ჰყოფთ სიმცირისათვის თქუენ სიტყვითა, ხოლო მე საქმით, თქუენ სწავლით, ხოლო მე განსწავლით, თქუენ წურთით, ხოლო მე განწურთით, ზოგად ხელი მივსცეთ დაცვად სჯულთა საღმრთოთა შეუგინებელად, რათა არა ზოგად ვიზღვივნეთ: თქუენ, ვითარცა მღდელნი, ხოლო მე ვითარცა მეფე, თქუენ ვითარცა მნენი, ხოლო მე, ვითარცა ებგური"

      ქრისტეს ეკლესიამ თამრის ღმრთივსათნო მოღვაწეობის გამო, მისი ცხოვრება მენელსაცხებლე დედათა ღვაწლს გაუტოლა და წმინდანთა დასში კანონიზირებისას, სწორედ მენელსაცხებლე დედათა ხსენების დღეს დააწესა მისი ხსენება (აღდგომიდან მესამე კვირას) და ასევე, მაისის პირველ დღეს (ახ. სტილით 14 მაისს).
